Masseria Spartivento is a small countryside retreat in the heart of Salento.
A place where the quiet of nature accompanies your rest, and the cuisine tells the story of the land with authenticity.
Staying at the Masseria
We welcome only a few guests at a time, to preserve an intimate and authentic atmosphere.
The rooms open onto a garden of olive trees, framed by traditional dry stone walls. Here, privacy comes naturally, and the days unfold at an unhurried, organic pace.
At the table, in step with the seasons
Our cooking begins in the countryside.
We grow our own produce and serve much of the fruit and vegetables that come from our land. We also devote part of our work, with the same care, to growing saffron.
The result is a simple, thoughtful cuisine, where every ingredient is carefully sourced and every dish is rooted in tradition.
A dream brought to life by Patrizia and Arianna
Masseria Spartivento began as a dream and became a place to be lived in and shared.
Patrizia and Arianna chose a personal style of hospitality, shaped by discreet care and authentic details, like a true country home opening its doors to guests.
The Masseria and its history
The property is regarded as an example of a masseria a torre mozza, a traditional fortified farmhouse with a truncated tower.
Its foundations are believed to date back to the first half of the 16th century and, together with other nearby masserie, it is thought to have formed part of a defensive line in an area of Lower Salento that was particularly exposed to pirate raids.
It later became the rural residence of the Personè baronial family, who oversaw and coordinated the agricultural activities of the area. Shortly after the Second World War, as part of the Land Reform, the Land Reform Authority established a representative office within the masseria, which remained active until 1968.
Today, thanks to a careful restoration, Masseria Spartivento preserves the character of Salento’s rural architecture and places it at the heart of an intimate hospitality experience, surrounded by nature.

We are in the countryside, just 2 km from the Alimini beaches and 8 km from Otranto’s historic centre.
An ideal location for alternating between the sea and charming villages.
